The Vitality of The Word of God

Thy Word is a a Lamp unto my feet.

The Bible Says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action), So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work. The Word of God is vital for man!

The Word of God connects man to the mind of God.

When God created the human race, He designed it with three following components: Spirit, Soul, and Body. The spirit and the soul were breath from God (inhabited in God), and the body was created from clay. In other words, the human race comes from God, from His breath “Spirit” which gives us the ability of being alive and is also the channel to connect with Him and the Soul which is the center of will, emotions and judgement. This is why we see throughout history men and women in different cultures trying to connect with something greater than themselves, trying to connect with something supernatural. We find different religions throughout history and some still evolving, trying to find that missing “what or who” in their lives to feel fulfillment. In the past few years, neurological scientists have grown a passion for studying brain patterns while someone is trying to connect with the supernatural; and what happens when someone prays vs. someone meditating. Now there is something interesting in one study that I read recently. It explained that when someone is praying, their brain changes pathways. In other words, there was euphoria, memory and learning action in their brain, which I describe as a communication (interaction) pattern between God and man.

The Need of God in the Life of Man

History as well as these kinds of studies only prove the need of God in the life of man. It shows that our brains were created (prepared, built) to connect with God which means we were not meant to walk alone in life. It means that we need God in our lives to feel fulfilled and in order to be completed in his image. When man sinned against God, man lost that necessary connection with Him, and thus, man's nature was altered. This is because sin separates man from God. This is why God sent His only Son into the world to die for our sins. Christ’s death on the cross ensured that our connection with God would be restored. We find the basis of this truth in the word of God (the Holy Scriptures, the Bible).

At one point or another, we have met people that are very hard to connect with the first time we meet them. Perhaps in our minds we build an image of them and we base our thoughts on that first impression. The funny truth about it is that we don’t even know them deeply enough to really judge their character. But that is just how we think! Time, however, has a very interesting gift, and that is, “it shows truth." As you start learning about people, you learn who they really are, their history and motives. That is when and how you start developing different feelings based on the time you spend with them, learning from them and about them.

Do You Really Know who is God?

A lot of people feel the same way about God. They think they have Him all figured out based on what others say about Him. However, they have not yet given Him the opportunity to show who He is by taking the time to meet Him personally. Now you must be thinking, how do I connect with someone I don’t even know? The answer is: His Holy Word. For the Bible says in Romans 10:17 Faith Comes by the hearing of the word of God. In other words, when we study or learn the Scriptures with faith, we connect with God. Scripture is the mind (thoughts) of God written for mankind. It is through His word that we get to know Him; it is through His Word that we learn His character of holiness, truth, love, mercy, compassion, wisdom, etc. It is also through His word that we learn how to live our lives through the eyes of Him who created everything. Through the Scripture, we understand our beginning, our middle and our end. We understand why life is the way it is, the cause of good and evil, the inner must parts of human beings, and how deteriorated sin has made the world. We also realize the Good News and that is this: God provided a plan of redemption not only for this life but for the one to come. We can find everything in Scripture from Spiritual encounters with God to living a godly life, to health, finances, well-being, being good neighbors, being good spouses, being good parents, etc. The Word of God is the cure to all human problems and issues. It is the fountain of living water, active, energized, always moving but never changing. It withholds power and divine revelation. It is natural but yet supernatural. It is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. The earth and the heavens shall pass but the Word of God shall last forever.

Hebrews 4:12 Says, for the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged [a]sword, penetrating as far as the division of the [b]soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.(AMP)

The Word of God exposes our intentions, the very intentions of the heart. It separates the Spirit from the Soul enabling the Spirit to connect to God freely and become one with God (in perfect harmony with God). Therefore, the soul can be directed (guided) by the Spirit to freedom, to its original state of perfection. When our Soul is directed by our Spirit in God, our soul is liberated from the bondage of sin. It is not tied down to surrender to the evil desires of our altered nature. It now governs with power and self-control and does not subdue to the unbalanced thoughts of this world. This world never gets enough because it is influenced by the altered nature always wanting more and more, never satisfied until sadly it implodes; provoking sicknesses, murders, lies, wars, disappointments, envy, rivalry, rape, anger, depression, unhappiness, etc. A soul that is guided by the Spirit and not by the unbalanced desires of the flesh, is a soul elevated to the thoughts of God (the mind of God). It is elevated to a higher understanding and wisdom to keep itself pure and holy like the very One who created it in order to fulfill His eternal destiny and purpose that we may experience complete joy.

It doesn’t matter how many things we accomplish and try in life, we will always feel this sense of emptiness (unfulfillment) when we are not walking in our original state, fulfilling the destiny and purpose that God had planned for us, before the foundations of the earth were created.

Dear Reader, maybe you or someone you know is going through a time in your life where you feel lost and troubled. You have probably made a lot of things happen in your life or maybe not. Whether you have or not, I invite you today to open your heart and mind to receive from God something much greater than you have experienced before. Trust me, it is better than anything the world can offer. I encourage you to open up the Scriptures and ask God to speak to you through His Word. It is like a lamp into your feet and a light unto your path so that both your Spirit and your Soul are elevated to the truth of God for you and you can feel a freedom only He can give.

Would you say this prayer with me?

Holy Father, I come before you with a humble heart. I acknowledge that I am a sinner in need of a Savior; I repent from my sins and ask for your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died on the Cross of Calvary for my sins. I accept Jesus as the Lord and Savior of my Heart. Amen
